Biography

Former Chief Minister of Karnali province, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi started his political journey from CPN Masal (Ekata Kendra) in 2048 BS. Shahi is a standing committee member of the CPN (Maoist Center). He was elected from Kalikot-1 (1) in the 2074 BS elections and became the Chief Minister of Karnali Province. He was also elected from Kalikot-1 in the 2070 BS Constituent Assembly elections. Shahi, who started politics in 2048 BS, also participated in the 'people's war' by the then CPN (Maoist). He also became a division commander during the armed conflict.
